ZA abrasives and a new phenolic resin system for heavy-duty grinding
The ZA zirconia alumina / alumina blend combines alumina hardness and zirconia alumina toughness for continuous self-sharpening under heavy grinding loads. The new phenolic resin bond has over 20% greater bond strength and 10℃-20℃ better heat resistance than conventional phenolic resin, allowing prolonged use below 250℃. Two or three embedded high-strength steel rings improve impact and fracture resistance. The product complies with EN12413 and withstands conditioning loads of 50-1000 kg.
-
A 610 mm diameter and 80 m/s peripheral speed for efficient billet conditioning
The 610 mm diameter covers a large area per pass for conditioning ingots, slabs and billets, improving material removal rates. A 76 mm thickness provides strength and durability for continuous heavy-duty work. A maximum peripheral speed of 80 m/s uses the high power of snagging machines to remove scale and defects efficiently, shortening conditioning time and lowering overall grinding costs.
-
Soft-grade, porous construction for cold and warm grinding
The soft-grade, porous structure dissipates heat effectively to help prevent surface burns. Under grinding pressure, the abrasive continuously fractures to expose fresh cutting edges for stable long-term efficiency. Suitable for cold and warm conditioning of different steels and processes.
A reliable, cost-effective alternative to imported brands
Design standards, materials and manufacturing processes are benchmarked against comparable heavy-duty wheels from leading international brands. Key performance measures, including grinding efficiency, service life, safety and value, match or exceed imported products, with substantially shorter lead times.

About this product
Product Overview
The 610x76x203.2/304.8 mm heavy-duty snagging wheel is a high-performance, resin-bonded, fiber-reinforced wheel for heavy grinding of steel ingots, slabs, square and round billets, and large castings. It removes scale, cracks, inclusions and other surface defects, supporting finished steel quality and yield.
An outside diameter of 610 mm, thickness of 76 mm and bore options of 203.2 mm (8″) or 304.8 mm (12″) fit mainstream conditioning and snagging machines. With a maximum peripheral speed of 80 m/s, ZA abrasives and a new phenolic resin bond, the wheel provides a high grinding ratio, efficiency and safety for steelmaking and large casting conditioning.

Typical Applications
Steelmaking: scale removal and defect conditioning on ingots, slabs, square billets and round billets
Stainless and special steels: surface grinding mold steel, spring steel, bearing steel and titanium alloys
Foundries: removing risers, flash and burrs from large castings
Heavy machinery: surface preparation of large metal components
Metallurgical conditioning: removing surface cracks and inclusions from continuous-cast billets
Usage Recommendations
Use a conditioning or snagging machine, preferably ≥100 kW, and do not exceed the 80 m/s peripheral speed limit.
Select a 203.2 or 304.8 mm bore to match the spindle. Check the fit before mounting and ensure flanges are clean and flat.
Maintain a 15°-30° working angle for effective wheel contact and optimal grinding efficiency.
The wheel withstands conditioning loads of 50-1000 kg. Adjust the load to the steel grade and grinding requirements; appropriate pressure gives ZA abrasives optimal self-sharpening.
For cold conditioning, coolant can assist heat dissipation. For warm conditioning, control grinding temperature to prevent burns and discoloration.
Wear protective goggles, a dust mask, protective gloves and hearing protection. Inspect for cracks or damage before use and perform a no-load test after mounting. Keep people clear of the operating area.
