Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions buyers ask most often about our products, quality checks, OEM orders and export shipping.

01

Products and selection

What products does Bodan supply?

We supply abrasive grains, including brown, white and black fused alumina, silicon carbide and zirconia alumina, and abrasive tools such as resin cutting and grinding discs, flap discs, sandpaper, abrasive cloth and sanding belts.

We also supply specialty ceramic raw materials, refractory products and custom grinding equipment. See the product catalogue for current items and specifications.

Which grit standards do you work with?

Grit sizes are specified to FEPA (F grit for grains and bonded abrasives, P grit for coated abrasives), JIS and the Chinese GB/W standard. Each product page lists the grit range it is available in under Specifications.

How do I choose the right product and grit for my application?

Tell us the workpiece material, the machine and disc size you use, the finish you need and your expected volume. We will recommend a grain, grit and format and confirm the specification with your quotation.

Can products be made to my specification?

Yes. Products are supplied to specification. Share the dimensions, grade and packing you require and we will confirm what can be produced before you order.

02

Quality and safety

Do your grinding discs meet safety standards?

Our resin-bonded grinding discs are made to conform to EN 12413, the European safety standard for bonded abrasives. The standard a product meets is stated on its product page; ask us for supporting documents for the items you are sourcing.

How is product quality checked?

Bonded discs are tested batch by batch, including an overspeed burst test at 1.5 times the maximum operating speed, hardness uniformity checks and dynamic balance testing.

For micropowders, grit distribution is checked with microscopes and laser particle size analysers to keep batches consistent.

What is the maximum operating speed of your discs?

It depends on the product and size and is given in each product's specifications. For example, our stainless steel cut-off wheels are designed for 80 m/s. Never run a disc above its rated maximum speed.

Do you accept OEM and private label orders?

Can I get samples before ordering?
