Product details
About this product
Product Overview
This red alumina flap disc uses conventional brown fused alumina for grinding, polishing and surface preparation of common metallic and non-metallic materials. Multiple layers of abrasive cloth flaps are arranged radially and bonded to a fiberglass-reinforced backing plate for easy handling and broad applicability. Diameters range from 100 mm (4″) to 180 mm (7″) and fit common angle grinders.

Core Performance Advantages
Balanced grinding performance
The red abrasive offers good hardness and fracture resistance for weld cleaning, deburring and surface finishing of common metals.
Ventilated flap structure
Gaps between the abrasive cloth flaps promote airflow and heat dissipation, helping control workpiece surface temperature.
Flexible abrasive cloth flaps
The flaps conform to curved surfaces and weld profiles, providing smooth handling for different surface shapes.
Coordinated wear
The abrasive cloth layers and backing wear together, using the abrasive efficiently and reducing waste.
Typical Applications
Carbon steel fabrication: weld grinding, slag removal and flash and burr finishing
Cast iron cleaning: removing scale and cleaning casting surfaces
General machinery maintenance: rust and old coating removal
Shipbuilding: rough grinding hull steelwork
Automotive manufacturing: sheet-metal preparation and weld-spot cleaning
Non-metallic materials: rough grinding and surface preparation of wood, stone and similar materials
Choose the disc type:
T27 (flat): suitable for flat-surface grinding
T29 (conical): suitable for welds, edges, bevels and contoured surfaces
Choose the backing: high-strength fiberglass plates suit heavy-duty work; economical plastic plates suit light to medium grinding.

Selection Guide
Check that the outside diameter (100-180 mm) and bore (16 or 22.23 mm) match the angle grinder.
Choose grit size for the application:
Coarse grinding (36#-60#): heavy stock removal, initial weld grinding and casting cleaning
Intermediate grinding (80#-120#): general grinding and surface finishing
Fine grinding (180#-400#): fine polishing and surface finishing
Choose the backing: reinforced mesh or metal plates suit heavy-duty work; economical plastic plates suit light to medium grinding.
Choose the disc type: T27 flat discs suit flat surfaces; T29 conical discs suit welds, edges, bevels and contoured surfaces.
Safe Use Instructions
Ensure the product's maximum rated speed is at least equal to the angle grinder speed and mount it correctly.
Wear personal protective equipment, including protective goggles, a face shield, earplugs and a dust mask.
Do not remove the angle grinder guard.
Check for cracks or missing flaps before use. Do not use a damaged flap disc.
Apply even, moderate pressure. Excessive force can damage the disc or workpiece.
Storage
.
Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture.
Avoid direct sunlight to prevent adhesive aging.
Store flat and avoid heavy pressure that could cause deformation.
