Advantages
Key features
High toughness and substantially improved wear resistance
Zirconia alumina is approximately 13-15 times tougher than brown fused alumina, resisting fracture and shedding under high impact. Imported premium grades, such as those containing 40% zirconia, perform particularly well in heavy-duty grinding.
Good self-sharpening and high grinding efficiency
Under grinding impact, microcracks propagate along grain boundaries and release small fragments, continually exposing fresh, sharp cutting edges for sustained grinding efficiency.
Low thermal conductivity helps prevent workpiece burning
Zirconia alumina has approximately one-tenth the thermal conductivity of brown fused alumina, limiting heat transfer to the workpiece. Together with the ventilated flap structure, this helps reduce sparks, surface burning and darkening on heat-sensitive stainless steel, titanium and aluminum alloys.
Long service life and good overall value
Imported zirconia alumina flap discs offer over 20% better performance than conventional products in abrasive-belt grinding applications. Compared with conventional abrasives, zirconia alumina provides longer service life and better value, reducing replacement frequency and improving productivity.
Good flexibility and low noise
Flexible abrasive cloth flaps conform to curved surfaces and weld profiles, providing low-noise operation and smooth handling.

Product details
About this product
Product Overview
Imported zirconia alumina flap discs are high-performance coated abrasives for high-intensity, heavy-duty grinding. Their abrasive is produced by eutectic arc fusion of alumina and zirconia above 2000℃, combining alumina hardness with zirconia toughness. Imported abrasives, such as the Saint-Gobain NV series, use specialized smelting processes to achieve fewer internal defects and finer, more uniform grains.
The discs provide high grinding efficiency and long service life while helping prevent workpiece burning and discoloration under heavy loads, making them suitable for professional metal finishing and heavy-duty grinding.
Diameters range from 100 mm (4″) to 180 mm (7″), fitting common angle grinders.

Typical Applications
Application areas and specific uses
Stainless steel: weld grinding and surface finishing of sheets and pipes with reduced darkening and marks
Heavy-duty metalworking: grinding billets, cleaning castings, removing slag and dressing flash and burrs
Shipbuilding: grinding hull steelwork and finishing welds
Automotive manufacturing: sheet-metal grinding, surface preparation and weld-spot cleaning
General maintenance: rust removal, casting cleaning and stripping old coatings
Applicable Materials
Material type and suitability
Stainless steel: particularly suitable; low heat discoloration and high surface finish
Heat-resistant steels / high-temperature alloys: particularly suitable for heavy-duty grinding
Titanium / nickel alloys: particularly suitable; low thermal conductivity helps prevent workpiece deformation
Carbon steel: suitable for efficient slag and burr removal
Aluminum alloys: suitable; resists loading and dissipates heat well
Cast iron: suitable for aggressive scale removal
Copper and copper alloys: suitable for fine surface finishing
Wood / stone: suitable for moderate grinding requirements
Selection Guide
Check that the outside diameter (100-180 mm) and bore (16 or 22.23 mm) match the angle grinder.
Choose grit size for the application:
Coarse grinding (40#-60#): heavy stock removal, initial weld grinding and casting cleaning
Intermediate grinding (80#): general grinding and surface finishing
Fine grinding (120# and finer): fine polishing and surface finishing
Choose the disc type:
T27 (flat): suitable for flat-surface grinding
T29 (conical): suitable for welds, edges, bevels and contoured surfaces
