Advantages
Key features
-
Excellent flexibility for complex profiles
The fan-shaped abrasive flaps are flexible and strong in tension, conforming closely to curved surfaces, internal walls and corners. They reach complex areas while helping protect the workpiece substrate.
-
Sharp, efficient grinding
Quality abrasives such as brown fused alumina, combined with an all-resin adhesive, provide sharp, self-sharpening grains, strong grinding performance and long service life for continuous operation.
-
Good heat dissipation helps prevent workpiece burning
The open, fan-shaped flap arrangement provides ventilation and heat dissipation, reducing grinding-zone temperatures at high speed and helping prevent overheating, discoloration and burns.
-
One tool for multiple finishing stages
Changing flap-wheel grit allows the same tool to handle rough grinding, deburring and rust removal, intermediate surface finishing, and fine polishing, reducing tool-change costs.
-
A full range of sizes for broad compatibility
Outside diameters from 10 to 80 mm and shank diameters of 3 or 6 mm fit most electric rotary tools, pneumatic grinders and drill presses, covering precision bore polishing through large-area surface finishing.

About this product
Product Overview
Shank-mounted flap wheels consist of overlapping abrasive cloth flaps arranged radially and bonded with resin around a metal shank. This small coated abrasive tool is highly flexible and designed for complex profiles, deep bores, internal walls and difficult corners. Diameters range from 10 to 80 mm, approximately 3/8″-3″, for electric rotary tools, pneumatic grinders and drill presses. Applications include metalworking, mold manufacturing, automotive repairs and hardware production.

Typical Applications
Application areas and specific uses
Deep bores and internal walls: fine polishing and cleaning inside stainless steel, medical and food-processing tubes
Mold manufacturing: grinding and finishing cavities, contoured surfaces and sidewalls
Metalworking: removing weld marks, burrs, rust and oxide layers
Automotive repairs: sheet-metal grinding, surface preparation and weld-spot cleaning
Woodworking and furniture: sanding wood carvings, polishing curves and finishing painted surfaces
Hardware manufacturing: polishing surfaces and dressing edges and corners
Applicable Materials
Stainless steel (particularly suitable)
Carbon steel and alloy steel
Cast iron
Non-ferrous metals such as aluminum alloys and copper
Non-metallic materials such as plastic and wood
Selection Guide
Check dimensions: select an outside diameter of 10-80 mm and a shank diameter of 3 or 6 mm to match the tool and its collet.
Choose grit size for the application:
Coarse grinding (40#-60#): heavy stock removal, deburring, rust removal and rapid dressing
Intermediate grinding (80#-120#): general grinding, surface finishing and weld-mark removal
Fine grinding (150#-240#): fine polishing and surface finishing
Extra-fine grinding (320#-600#): mirror polishing and precision surface finishing
Choose the abrasive type:
Brown fused alumina (A): economical, general-purpose abrasive for carbon steel, iron and wood
Zirconia alumina (ZA): longer-lasting abrasive for heavy-duty grinding of stainless and alloy steels
Ceramic alumina (CA): high-performance abrasive with excellent self-sharpening for difficult materials
Choose the core structure: rubber cores provide flexibility for fine polishing

Safe Use Instructions
Ensure the wheel's maximum rated speed is at least equal to the tool speed and mount it correctly. Never exceed its speed rating.
Wear protective goggles, a face shield, a dust mask and protective gloves to protect against dust inhalation and flying debris.
After mounting, perform a no-load test inside the guard for at least 1 minute. Check for unusual vibration or noise.
Before use, inspect the flap wheel for missing or damaged flaps and moisture damage. Do not use damaged wheels.
Use even, moderate pressure to prevent damage to the flap wheel or workpiece. Do not grind with the end face of the flap wheel.
Replace heavily worn wheels promptly to prevent the shank from scratching the workpiece.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place. Moisture can reduce adhesive strength.
Avoid direct sunlight to prevent adhesive aging.
Store flat and avoid heavy pressure that could deform the flaps.
For long-term storage, use sealed packaging to keep out dust and moisture.
