Advantages

Key features

  1. High hardness with greater toughness than white fused alumina

Pink fused alumina has hardness similar to white fused alumina and toughness between white and brown fused alumina. It resists grain chipping during grinding, improving abrasive tool durability and life.

  2. Good self-sharpening for sustained sharpness

Dulled grains undergo microfracture to expose fresh cutting edges and maintain efficient cutting.

  3. Low grinding heat reduces workpiece burning

Low heat generation lowers grinding-zone temperature to help prevent burns, distortion and cracks, particularly during precision processing of heat-sensitive hardened and stainless steels.

  4. Low loading and high surface finish

The abrasive resists loading on stainless and alloy steels, producing a high surface finish with stable Ra values of 0.4-0.05 μm for precision applications.

  5. Acid and alkali resistance with good thermal stability

Good chemical and thermal stability suit demanding operating conditions.

About this product

Product Overview

Pink fused alumina, designated PA and also known as red corundum or synthetic ruby, is a premium abrasive made from industrial alumina powder with chromium oxide (Cr₂O₃) by arc fusion above 2000℃. Its angular crystals are translucent pink, pale rose or purplish red.

Hardness similar to white fused alumina and greater toughness combine strong cutting ability with fracture resistance for precision grinding.
