Product details

About this product

Brown Fused Alumina

Brown fused alumina is a synthetic abrasive made from bauxite, coke or anthracite, and iron filings by electric arc fusion above 2000℃. Its brown color gives it its name. The main crystalline phase is α-Al₂O₃, with approximately 94%-97% alumina and small amounts of iron oxide, silica and titania. High hardness, toughness, temperature resistance and chemical stability make it one of the most widely used abrasives, with applications in abrasive tools, blasting, refractories and wear-resistant materials.

Product properties: high hardness and strength, good self-sharpening, impact and high-temperature resistance, oxidation and corrosion resistance, and low creep

Main Applications

Bonded abrasives: vitrified and resin-bonded grinding wheels, segments, mounted points and honing stones

Coated abrasives: sandpaper, abrasive cloth, belts, flap discs and flap wheels

Blasting: rust and scale removal, surface strengthening and mold cleaning

Refractories: castables, ramming mixes, precast shapes and refractory bricks

Wear-resistant materials: industrial floors, anti-slip road surfaces and wear-resistant coatings

Filter media: water-treatment filter beds and pads

Foundry sand: molding and shell sand for precision casting
