About this product

Product Overview

White fused alumina (WFA) is a synthetic corundum made from quality industrial alumina powder by arc fusion above 2000℃. Its main crystalline phase is α-Al₂O₃ in the trigonal system, with a pure white color. High purity and hardness, acid and alkali resistance, temperature resistance and thermal stability make it suitable as aggregate and filler for premium refractories.

Available as sized aggregates of 0-1, 1-3, 3-5 and 5-8 mm, and fine powder of 200#-0. Other specifications can be customized.

Core Advantages

1. High purity and stable performance

Al₂O₃ ≥99.0%, with very low impurities (Fe₂O₃≤0.05%, Na₂O≤0.30%), ensures stable refractory performance.

2. High refractoriness and temperature resistance

Refractoriness ≥1850℃ and a maximum service temperature up to 1900℃ suit various industrial furnaces.

3. Good thermal shock resistance

Low linear expansion provides excellent thermal shock resistance and helps prevent cracking under rapid heating and cooling.

4. Strong chemical stability

Resists acid and alkali corrosion without reacting with them, supporting varied chemical environments.

5. High bulk density and low porosity

Use and Storage Recommendations

1. Combine sized aggregate and fine powder

In refractory castables, aggregate forms the structural skeleton and fine powder fills the matrix voids. Select a suitable grading according to the formulation.

2. Storage Conditions

Store in a dry, ventilated place away from moisture and corrosive substances such as acids and alkalis. Do not exceed the specified stacking height to prevent packaging damage.

3. Custom Services

Water washing, acid washing and other treatments are available to meet different purity requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does white fused alumina differ from brown fused alumina?

White fused alumina has higher purity (Al₂O₃≥99%), a pure white color, slightly higher hardness and somewhat lower toughness. Brown fused alumina contains approximately 95% Al₂O₃ and is dark brown. White fused alumina is more suitable for high-purity refractories and precision casting.

What is the difference between white fused alumina aggregate and fine powder?

Sized aggregate, from 0-1 to 5-8 mm, forms the refractory skeleton; fine powder, 200#-0, fills the matrix. Combining them can optimize refractory density and performance.

Can the product be used in high-temperature steelmaking environments?

Yes. White fused alumina offers high refractoriness, a maximum service temperature of 1900℃ and good slag resistance. It is widely used in ladle and iron-runner castables.

Are custom specifications available?

Yes. Besides standard sizes, 8-12 mm aggregate, 325#-0 fine powder and other special sizes can be supplied.

What is the minimum order quantity?

Standard orders start from one 25 kg bag. Bulk bags are normally shipped as complete units.

Can packaging be customized?

Yes. Bulk bag capacities, label designs and special packaging formats can be customized.
